Liverpool linked with move for Morocco World Cup star

|

Liverpool are interested in making a move for Moroccan midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat, according to The Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old is currently playing for Fiorentina in Serie A and has put in two impressive performances against the likes of Croatia and Belgium to set his nation on its way to progressing into the last 16 of the World Cup.

The midfielder is currently only earning £30,000 a week at Fiorentina and it would be expected that Liverpool could afford to give Amrabat a worthy pay rise in order to secure his signature.

Another big factor expected to play a part is that the Reds are in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League and will face Real Madrid in a couple of months’ time, which unfortunately Fiorentina aren’t capable of providing.

Amrabat is typically an enforcer at the base of the midfield and could provide healthy cover and competition to Fabinho in the six position.

The Moroccan has made 13 appearances so far in the Serie A and has picked up seven yellow cards in the process, and many would suggest that Jurgen Klopp’s side has been missing over recent years.

The Fiorentina star has plenty of international experience, with his start in Morocco’s 2-0 victory against Belgium being his 41st international cap.

Although it may be a surprising link to many, with the current ownership dispute that is surrounding the club at the minute, perhaps we should expect to be linked to cheaper midfield options with Amrabat being a perfect example.
