Liverpool pull out of race for Premier League midfielder

|

Liverpool are likely to pull out of the race to sign Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo, according to Ben Jacobs.

Speaking on the The Done Deal Show, Jacobs claimed that the Reds aren’t expected to match the price tag set by the Seagulls, which is reportedly between £75million and £100million.

Chelsea and Arsenal are now expected to battle it out for the Ecuadorian’s signature, with both London clubs expected to be willing to pay around £75million.

Caicedo has become one of the most highly rated box-to-box midfielders in the world this season after some fantastic performances for Brighton and Ecuador at the World Cup.

The 21-year-old has made 21 appearances for Brighton so far this season, scoring one goal and assisting another.

Many think that Caicedo would be the perfect replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who left the club on a free transfer in 2021.

Liverpool never really replaced Wijnaldum, and it shows in the performances and energy levels in Jurgen Klopp’s current midfield.

Thiago, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are all top players, but none of them have the legs anymore to carry out the high press that Klopp has always wanted from his midfield.

For the price though, I would rather get Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes in the summer- as good as Caicedo is, £75million is a lot of money.

A midfield of Fabinho, Bellingham and Thiago or Nunes would be exciting to watch, with the likes of Stefan Bajcetic who could come in at the base of the midfield.
