Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out the chances of center-back Nat Phillips leaving before the end of the January transfer window. However, it has been rumoured that he will end up going to help bring in funds to help improve the chances of bringing in midfield reinforcements.

The 25-year-old has been the fifth-choice center-back at Anfield and has made only five appearances this season. Two of these five appearances came in the Premier League, while three came in the domestic cup competitions.

In a press conference earlier today, Klopp was questioned regarding the future of Phillips. When asked if the defender could leave, Klopp responded, “Depends if there are offers. We have to be prepared for pretty much everything. The 31st is Deadline Day, and we will see.” He also added that Phillips has been absent from training this week due to “a proper cold.”

Phillips’ exit looks inevitable. Especially with the recall of teenage defender Rhys Williams after a loan spell at Blackpool. Williams has been fine for the League One club and is a strong prospect at Liverpool. However, it’s still being determined whether any teams will make a bid for Phillips before the transfer window ends.

According to a few Twitter handles, Phillips has multiple clubs queuing up for him. Bournemouth is again at the front, joined by West Ham and, surprisingly, two Championship clubs in Burnley and Watford. The highest bid on the table is in the range of £5 million.

Fans can watch the entire press conference on the official Liverpool YouTube channel.
