Liverpool shocked by Leeds United at Anfield

|

Liverpool have lost in front of fans at Anfield for the first time since April 2017, as Leeds United shocked the Premier League with a 2-1 win.

Goals from Rodrigo Moreno and Crysencio Summerville were enough to cancel out Mohamed Salah’s first half equaliser.

Rodrigo put the visitors ahead after four minutes, pouncing on misplaced pass from Liverpool’s Joe Gomez and a slip by Alisson Becker.

The Reds struggled to react to the opening goal but were given a lifeline as Mohamed Salah smartly volleyed home an Andy Robertson cross.

Liverpool still looked shaky defensively with Leeds hitting the crossbar and constantly threatening the back line.

Jurgen Klopp’s men pushed for a winner with Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah coming close on multiple occasions but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Out of nowhere Leeds youngster, Summerville, slotted the ball past Alisson in the final minute.

The defeat increases the pressure on Jurgen Klopp to find a solution to his side’s problems, with the defeat leaving the Reds in 9th place.

Klopp’s men sit eight points behind Newcastle United in 4th place and an astounding 13 points behind Manchester City at the top of the table.

The lack of intent and purpose from Liverpool will worry plenty of fans but also the quality in the side seems to have dipped massively.
