This week marks the second international break of the season and much to many Reds fans’ frustrations, 17 of the club’s first-team players have been called up by their national teams.

During the break, many of Jurgen Klopp’s stars could even play up to three games during the period, meaning no rest or recovery time for many players between now and the resumption of the Premier League when the Red face Leicester City on the 21st November.

I think this can be quite damaging for Jurgen Klopp and this Liverpool side, especially given the injuries the squad has already sustained, I’m not sure almost all the first-team playing a further 2-3 games for their national team is going to help in trying to keep everyone fit.

Players such as Alisson, Joe Gomez, Andy Robertson, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Mo Salah, Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino, and Diogo Jota have all been called up and will no doubt feature in every game.

Fabinho, Thiago, and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all been withdrawn from the upcoming squads for their countries to continue their rehabilitation and match fitness ahead of the league’s restart, due to injuries sustained over the past few weeks in both the Premier League and Champions League.

As much as I enjoy the international break and being able to watch players from all over the world play one another, something that I have always enjoyed – as a Liverpool fan at this very moment, I am anxious about the repercussions of what this will have on the squad over the winter period, especially given the heavy schedule that the Reds face with 11 games in 5 weeks.

No matter the outcome though, I will no doubt watch many of the games this international break with joy – and just hope and pray that the Red on duty will stay fit.
