Liverpool target to prioritise move to Atletico Madrid

Liverpool are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of Fiorentina midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat, according to Santi Aouna.

The Morroccan World Cup star has reportedly confessed his desire to secure a move to the Spanish capital, rather than a move to the Premier League where Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were both interested.

The 26-year-old was one of the standout performers at the World Cup in Qatar, leading his country to the Semi-Final, which no African side had ever managed to do before Morocco.

Amrabat is exactly the type of player that Liverpool need, a strong, athletic, ball-winning midfielder.

The Reds’ have seemingly lost their physicality in the middle of the park since the days of the trio of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum.

Nowadays, Liverpool’s midfield is far too easy to walk through and Amrabat would be a key player that could change that.

Especially due to Fabinho’s poor form this season, the Fiorentina man could prove to be valuable competition to the Brazilian or even end up being a replacement.

Unfortunately, the possibility of signing Amrabat is slowly fading and the list of possible midfielders only seems to be getting shorter.

Now it seems all of Liverpool’s attention for the remainder of the January transfer window will now turn to Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners.
