The Reds will play their last fixture of the calendar year 2022 at Anfield against ex-manager Brendan Rodgers’ side Leicester City.
Ibrahima Konate might return for Liverpool’s encounter against Leicester City later today. French star and World Cup runner-up Konate is available after returning to training earlier in the week following France’s World Cup campaign.
Jurgen Klopp has no new injury concerns. However, Liverpool will be without the injured Curtis Jones, Roberto Firmino, and James Milner, who all missed the 3-1 Boxing Day victory over Aston Villa. In addition, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Arthur Melo, the long-term absentees, remain sidelined and will also miss this Premier League game.
During the pre-match press conference, Klopp mentioned, “No new injury problems after the Aston Villa game, not that a lot would come back for the Leicester City game apart from Ibrahima Konate. He is now training with us. So, he will be available now as well. So, positive for this moment, but we know it will be a tough game.”
Cody Gakpo will debut in the New Year. The Dutch attacker is set to officially join Liverpool on January 1st, 2023, at the start of the January transfer window. However, he is not available for this game.
Mo Salah has the opportunity to go higher up the top-scorer charts at Liverpool if he finds the back of the next. Salah is currently sitting on a tally of 172 goals for the club, the same as former Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish and with one goal, he will eclipse him.
A win in this game should see Klopp and Liverpool win four consecutive Premier League games.
