Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster has admitted that his future is still unclear as his loan spell with Swansea City draws to a close.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan in South Wales as he attempted to help them achieve promotion to the Premier League, but lost out in the Playoff semi-final against Brentford.

Brewster had nothing but positives to stay about his time with Steve Cooper’s side despite it ending in disappointment for the young English striker and is not sure whether he will return to the Liberty Stadium.

Speaking to Swansea City’s official website, Brewster opened up about what the future holds and is still unsure what is next for him.

“I have loved every moment of it, I love the club, I love the fans, I love the staff, I love everybody here,” he said.

“I don’t know what is going to happen next year but if I don’t come back Swansea will always be in my heart.

“I’ll be Swansea forever and I will always keep tabs on them no matter what. I just hope that the boys just go for it again next season.”

Brewster added that he believes that Liverpool and Swansea have similarities, as both clubs are one big family.

There is a lot of competition in Jurgen Klopp’s side having just secured the club’s first Premier League in 30 years, and are eager to defend their crown.

With the move for Timo Werner breaking down, it could be a way for Brewster to gain first-team experience at Anfield. But with Roberto Firmino a key figure in the squad, it looks unlikely that he will see as many minutes that he might like.

Having scored 11 goals in 22 Championship appearances for the Swans (as per TransferMarkt), Brewster has illustrated that he is more than a match for the playing level in England’s second tier. It could be wise for him to play a full season at a club in that league or a potential return to Swansea.

Time will tell as to what Klopp decides to do with him. Although the German tactician is a big fan of Brewster’s, the 2020/21 campaign may be too early for a regular run in the Reds’ squad.
