Injuries have taken a real hold of Liverpool’s squad this season, with many of the club’s first-team players spending time on the sidelines so far this campaign.

One of those names who has suffered numerous injury setbacks not just this season but in previous since joining the club is Guinean midfielder Naby Keita, who picked up a fitness issue before the game against Fulham on Sunday and was left out of the squad.

Yesterday, however, during Jurgen Klopp’s press conference ahead of tonight’s game against Tottenham at Anfield, he revealed that Keita could be in contention to return to the squad ahead of the clash…

As confirmed by The Atheltic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce on Twitter during the press conference, Keita is a maybe for the game but has struggled to find the rhythm in his performances and form due to his injuries throughout his time with the club.

He was involved in the extended warm-up yesterday morning which shows positive signs, but there are still doubts over whether he could be 100% ready to take part in the game against Spurs due to the importance and magnitude of the game, which will no doubt be very physical and with high intensity due to the two clubs being joint-top of the Premier League.

There is no doubt in Keita’s ability, we have seen some of the best from the midfielder at times and he has produced some great goals and performances for the Reds but I think the lack of game time hasn’t allowed him to properly show the Liverpool faithful what he has in his locker.

I think if he were to be able to keep himself fit and get a good run of games in the squad then who knows what heights he can reach for the club.

What do you think Liverpool fans, do you hope to see Naby Keita feature more? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
