Liverpool were desperate for defensive reinforcements very early on into the current season, after the injuries to key players such as Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and eventually, Joel Matip ruled the trio out for the season.

The January window arrived and despite leaving their business very late, the Reds managed to sure up their options at the back with two new signings in Ben Davies from Preston North End, and Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04 on an initial six-month loan with an option to buy in the summer for just £18 million – and after his performances so far this season, I think the club should take advantage of that in the summer.

Kabak’s time at the club started off pretty shaky with a couple of mistakes in his first few games when playing alongside midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho but since then he has grown in confidence and battled back from the mistakes and held his head eye – and in the last two games alongside Nat Phillips, the pair have kept back-to-back clean sheets and have three from three when playing alongside each other this season.

Have you been impressed by Kabak so far?

No

I think that the club should definitely trigger the option to buy in the summer. We may have been linked with other defenders, most namely RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konaté most recently with a reported £34 million deal, but I think it would be silly to disregard the effort and work that Kabak has put in so early into his time at the club already.

He has settled well and is growing in confidence and it wouldn’t make sense to me for the club to just disregard that at the end of the season and allow him to return to Schalke.

What do you think Liverpool fans, should the club sign Kabak permanently? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
