Player Ratings: Wolves 0-1 Liverpool

|

Harvey Elliott’s first half screamer was enough to send Liverpool into the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, with a 1-0 win against Wolves.

Here is how we think every player performed tonight:

Caoimhin Kelleher- 8/10

Was composed in every save he made and never looked in doubt of keeping a clean sheet.

His catching and distribution was spot on every time.

James Milner- 8/10

The 37-year-old is still one of Liverpool’s most consistent performers and had Rayan Ait Nouri in his back pocket for the whole of the game.

Not only was he solid defensively but he also made some bursting runs forward and put some good crosses into the box, which would’ve been more useful had Darwin Nunez been on the pitch.

Joe Gomez- 8.5/10

I thought that Joe Gomez was exceptional tonight.

He read every opportunity to perfection and had the pace and composure to prevent most counter-attacks.

His aerial ability was spot on tonight too and wasn’t bullied by Raul Jimenez or Diego Costa at all.

Ibou Konate- 7/10

A better performance from the Frenchman tonight, offering a seriously fast and physical option at the heart of the defence.

His score would’ve been closer to Gomez if he was more efficient on the ball, on many occasions his clearances didn’t eliminate the danger enough.

Kostas Tsimikas- 7/10

The Greek international done just enough to keep Adama Traore at bay for the full ninety minutes.

He acknowledged he wouldn’t be able to beat him for pace so instead stood his ground and cut off his options as well.

His final ball up the other end of the pitch could’ve been a bit better, but still a good performance.

Stefan Bajcetic- 7.5/10

Absolutely superb performance from the 17-year-old at the base of Liverpool’s midfield.

The Spaniard played with such maturity and composure and his first-half performance was a joy to watch.

He was replaced by Fabinho after 70 minutes with cramp, which proves just how much ground he covered in the midfield.

Thiago Alcantara- 9/10 (Man of the Match)

That was an absolute masterclass from Thiago Alcantara, his performance was complete with everything.

I can’t remember him giving the ball away on a single occasion and he won nearly every tackle as well, showing off both his attacking and defensive skills.

Hopefully he can give another top class performance like this against Chelsea on Saturday.

Naby Keita- 7/10

A solid performance from Keita, especially considering the lack of minutes he has had in recent weeks.

It’s nice to see one of our midfielders turn and be positive with the ball, always looking to create something for the forwards.

Unfortunately he seriously tired out in the latter stages of the game.

Harvey Elliott- 9/10

A fantastic performance from the 19-year-old on the right-wing, where his dribbling skills and work rate didn’t go unnoticed.

Winning numerous duals as well as creating plenty of chances for Gakpo and Carvalho and who can forget his superb strike from thirty yards out to secure the win.

Cody Gakpo- 7/10

Nobody can question the Dutchman’s work rate and he looked really bright in spells but just couldn’t find the finishing touch to get himself an assist or a goal.

Fabio Carvalho- 7/10

Carvalho was similar to Gakpo in that he worked his socks off and created loads of space and chances but just couldn’t string it all together.

Much brighter than what Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has looked in recent weeks.
