There has been plenty of reaction to the club’s victory last night over Atalanta in their third Champions League group game this season – a 5-0 victory assured the Reds sat with 9 points from 9, keeping a clean sheet in all three games.

It was a performance for the history books, and this was kindly pointed out by Liverpool ECHO correspondent Paul Gorst, who shared his thoughts on the game over Twitter.

Gorst was keen to point out that the victory was the club’s biggest away win in the competition for almost three years, with the previous being their 5-0 victory over FC Porto at the start of 2018.

The perfect night for Jurgen Klopp was his way of rounding off his thoughts on the game, and it really was. His choice of starting Diogo Jota over Roberto Firmino paid off, as did his choice of Rhys Williams in defence alongside Joe Gomez, with the pair keeping a clean sheet and nullifying the Atalanta attack for most of the game.

Klopp has somehow managed to keep the engine running during a difficult period for the Reds, with injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho still keeping the first-team pair on the sidelines – but somehow this has not affected their resilience when it matters, and still find a way to get the job done.
