Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has come to a conclusion over the future of one player at Anfield which is hanging in the balance, according to reports.

The Reds have a number of players whose contracts come to an end in the summer. Because of this, we are expected to be active in the transfer market following a quiet 2019 summer window. Although this does not appear to be the German tactician’s main concern.

Georginio Wijnaldum has one year left on his deal and is on £75,000-a-week, which is much less than some of his teammates.

Football Insider revealed that Klopp wants to reward the Dutchman for all his hard work over the years with a new contract. This is a man who made a shortlist of seven Liverpool players for last year’s Ballon d’Or awards and finished 26th in the overall standings.

Should Georginio Wijnaldum be offered a new contract?

The boss has described him as “perfect” this season due to his versatility and his combination of skills. With five goals to his name in 38 appearances during the current campaign, it is clear that he is still very much part of Klopp’s plans for the next few years.

Because of what he has achieved, the £45m-rated star deserves a new contract at Anfield and the Kop faithful were besotted by him at the start of the campaign.

His brace against Barcelona last season is what he is going to be remembered for after taking his anger out on the Catalan giants. After signing from Newcastle United in 2016 for £25m, I feel that fee was repaid in full with just two goals.
