Liverpool manager reportedly wants to meet with RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner bringing him to Merseyside in the summer, according to reports.

The Premier League season has been postponed until further notice due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which has also seen the Bundesliga brought to a halt. With medical experts suggesting that the illness has yet to peak in the UK, it is unclear when we will see football return to these shores and Germany.

Klopp is a long-time admirer of Werner and we have been linked with the forward for some time now and is keen to take the next step in his career after revealing his admiration of his Merseyside admirers.

With the Reds also being connected with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, the German would be considerably cheaper than the Englishman.

According to Sport Bild, Klopp would like to meet with Werner for a private chat and convince him of his vision before accelerating his plans to the next stage.

The 29-cap international is believed to have a release clause of £50m, with the report adding that this meeting would have likely already taken place due to the increasing number of cases in regards to the virus.

Bayern Munich are also believed to be interested in his services, which could see a battle taking shape for his signature when the 2019/20 campaign ends.

This sort of thing happens all the time in football. Before players arrive at the club, managers will tend to sit down with the player and advertise himself and his club to his team, and this situation is nothing out of the ordinary.

Let’s hope that the meeting has already taken place as the report suggests. Therefore we can bring in Werner sooner rather than later.
