After joining the club at the start of the season, Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara has suffered due to injury and illness, making only two appearances for the Reds in the league this season – with his last game coming against Everton at the end of October with the midfielder sustaining a knee injury that has sidelined him ever since.

Recent images had emerged of Thiago back in training and stepping up his rehab at the Kirkby training facility, as well as the club being hopeful that the midfielder will make his return to the side before the end of the month.

With the recent return of fellow midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to the team with him featuring during the second half against Crystal Palace, as well as Naby Keita making his return from injury and starting the game against the Eagles – Thiago’s return in the coming days could cause a real headache for Jurgen Klopp in terms of picking his starting XI.

It is great to see so many great options for the starting XI given the bare bone squad we have seen at times this season due to an abundance of injuries to the first-team.

There will be a way for each of Liverpool’s midfield talent to get a good amount of game time this season with the Reds still currently in four different competitions this season, meaning maximum games for the club to play.

Youngster Cutis Jones has massively impressed for the squad and the fan base this season with him fitting in more and more as the games go by and really making a stake for himself in Klopp’s side – which means the German will soon have Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago, Fabinho, and Curtis Jones to choose from for his three-man midfield, an incredible selection of players that will no doubt cause some sleepless nights for the Liverpool manager.
