After his comments this week during an interview with Spanish publication AS, Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is set to be offered a new and improved contract by the club to show their loyalty to his ability and what he can continue to do for the Reds.

According to Neil Jones, Liverpool correspondent for Goal.com, the club are certain to offer the Egyptian an improved figure on his already £200,000 a week contract that sees him tied to the club until 2023 – with him feeling that the interview with AS before the Crystal Palace game was an attempt to get an improved contract with the Reds and if that is the case, it has clearly worked.

Is Mohamed Salah underappreciated by fans of other clubs?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Salah talked during the interview about wanting to break as many records in football as he can and become one of the greatest players in the history of the sport and in my opinion, no club can offer him a better chance at doing that than Liverpool can, with him adding to his legacy at the club that he has already forged.

The forward turns 29 next summer and has reached the peak of his powers in terms of ability, so I think a move away from the club and to have to start again would cause a big hindrance to his ambitions in the game and would prevent him for continuing his legacy in the sport.

Despite Salah’s comments around his future being in Liverpool’s hands and failing to rule out a move away from the club – I point back toward Liverpool U23’s coach Gary O’Neil and his thoughts on the situation, with him pointing out that the attitude of a player will show whether they are unhappy at their club or not and Salah’s substitute appearance against Palace looked a world away from a player who would want to leave the club right now.
