Recent rumours have surfaced after an interview with AS around Mohamed Salah and his future at the club, with the Egyptian winger failing to rule out a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona during his interview with the Spanish publication.

Despite his comments and the current rumours circulating Salah’s future, plenty of individuals at the club including Jurgen Klopp himself have dismissed the stories currently being created – with Liverpool U23 assistant coach Gary O’Neil having his say on the matter during his appearance on the radio show TalkSPORT yesterday…

As O’Neil points out, he isn’t directly involved in the first-team setup and can’t offer much in terms of exclusive news or opinions from people on the inside but he does offer a good opinion on the matter himself.

Will Mane, Salah or Firmino leave Liverpool this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

He says he’s keen to judge a player’s attitude on their performances and as he says, Salah’s attitude and performance during his stint against Crystal Palace didn’t look like that of a player who wants to leave the club or force a move to either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

I think he is right and I also agree with his standpoint – I think a lot of what Salah said during his interview was taken out of context, as he stated that his future was in the club’s hands, and from what I can see, the club doesn’t want to lose him.

Salah has become such an important player at Liverpool and to the Premier League and his departure would be a great mistake. His records he has broken and his achievements have made him one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players in my opinion and to let him leave in such a way would put a bitter end to a great career on Merseyside.
