Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson included in England squad

Liverpool stars Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson have been included in England’s World Cup squad for the upcoming Qatar World Cup. [Liverpool Echo]

Both players have managed to find a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad despite their poor form so far this season.

It will certainly be interesting to see how much game time each of the players get throughout the tournament, with lots of competition in every area of the squad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will face competition from Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Ben White who are all capable of playing on the right-hand side of the defence, however Kyle Walker is expected to play at the right side of the three centre-backs.

Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson, will face competition from the likes of Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, James Maddison and Kalvin Phillips.

Perhaps the World Cup came a little bit too early for the likes of Joe Gomez and Harvey Elliott who will now set their sights on being included in the squad for the 2024 Euros.

Defenders- Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Conor Coady (Everton), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Newcastle United), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Ben White (Arsenal).

Midfielders- Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City), Declan Rice (West Ham United).

Forwards- Phil Foden (Manchester City), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hostpur), James Maddison (Leicester City), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Chelsea), Callum Wilson (Newcastle United).
