Since being promoted to the first-team squad back in 2016, Trent Alexander-Arnold has gone on to become one of the best players in the world with a current market value of £99 million.

The 22-year-old picked up a calf injury during the club’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the start of November as hasn’t featured for Jurgen Klopp’s side since. However, during the German’s press conference Monday, he offered an update on the young Englishman’s current fitness…

As reported by freelance Liverpool journalist David Lynch, Alexander-Arnold is back out on the pitches in training and has taken the necessary steps in his rehabilitation to be edging closer to a return for the Reds.

Will Trent Alexander-Arnold become the next Liverpool captain?

Yes

No

His return from injury couldn’t come at a better time, with current defensive options under great strain so far this season, with both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out for the remainder of the season, as well as James Milner now on the sidelines leaving Neco Williams as the club’s only player at right-back.

With Trent penciled in for a return on the 9th of December according to Transfermarkt, we could see him feature against FC Midtjylland or maybe even earlier against Wolves at the weekend if all goes well for the right-back.

I think he is easily the best right-back in the world right now and has completely revolutionised the way we view full-backs in the modern game along with Andy Robertson, with the pair churning out assist after assist for the Reds thanks to their ability going forward. He has become such an important part of the squad and the sooner he makes his return for Jurgen Klopp the better, as every player will be needed at their best over the festive period.
