Ahead of the Reds’ 1-0 victory over Ajax on Tuesday, a surprise name was seen on the team sheet, and that was Irish goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher starting between the sticks and producing a fantastic performance.

The evident absentee in Kelleher’s wake was Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson, who was left out of the game due to a reported hamstring issue that he said he felt during the second half of the club’s 1-1 draw with Brighton last weekend.

Most recently, Jurgen Klopp revealed that the 28-year-old could be on the sidelines for up to 14 days, with that now being 11 of the club’s first-team players either injured or labeled as doubtful ahead of Sunday’s game against Wolves.

His injury could not have come at a worse time with the current injury crisis causing havoc at the club. What this does mean, however, is a great opportunity for Irishman Kelleher to show the Liverpool faithful and Klopp just what a player for the future he could be, with him certainly being one to watch for throughout his future career.

Who will start against Wolves?

We could see from Tuesday just how talented he is with his incredible last-minute save against Klaas Jan Huntelaar’s point-blank header which kept hold of the three points for the club as well as a clean sheet for himself – something that he will no doubt be very proud of.

It will be interesting this weekend to see who starts in goal for the club against Wolves between Kelleher and usual No.2 Adrian, but I have a funny feeling that the young Irishman could be the name we see on the team sheet again…
