Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has voiced his thoughts quite frequently recently over the current TV schedule for match fixtures, with him stating that the broadcasters ‘don’t care’ about the situation.

Just yesterday, Football Reporter for the Daily Mail Craig Hope wrote about how the Liverpool manager should ‘stop whining now’ about the fixture schedules, using the current global climate’s effect on the general public as a counter-argument…

I think Craig Hope is completely off the mark with this one and I think to have the audacity to use the current situation happening in the country right now with his quote of ‘millions of ordinary people affected’ as a counter-argument for Klopp’s claims is shallow and out of order.

The current climate on the general public is completely separate from Klopp’s arguments surrounding the current match scheduling issue – something that he has been talking about long before this season, with him even talking about the packed schedule back in December last year.

Of course, the current situation has affected so many people in more ways than one including myself but not once have I thought of using it as an excuse to squash Klopp’s concerns – his reasoning for the arguments is the player’s welfare, with the Reds already suffering heavily over injuries this season.

Hope is using the struggles of the general public as an excuse to have a pop at Klopp for caring about the welfare of his players and I for one think it is as low as you can go, which doesn’t come as a surprise to me given his employee is the Daily Mail. He complains that because the broadcasters pay so much money then the teams should stick to doing as their told – forgetting the fact that the reason they pay so much is that the quality of football is the best in the world and if injuries persist in the way they have, this quality will only deplete, leaving them paying the same amount of money for half the value of the product just so they can fit the games into their schedule.

I don’t agree with Hope’s views and I think he should be ashamed of his attempt at virtue signaling as a tactic to get a reaction.
