Liverpool are reportedly in talks with star midfielder Fabinho over a new contract after his impressive performances since joining the club in 2018 – with the club keen to keep hold of the Brazilian midfielder.

Since joining the Reds, Fabinho has grown to become one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and his versatility has been a major upside for Jurgen Klopp especially this season, with Fabinho often having to operate as a centre-back over the course of the current campaign with him only just returning to midfield.

According to trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano during his Here We Go podcast, Liverpool are pushing for a new contract and want to make a proposal with his representatives as they are very happy with him right now, with Jurgen Klopp said to be ‘in love’ with the 27-year-old, as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

It is completely understandable that the club are wanting to keep hold of Fabinho and are aiming to reward him with a bumper contract – especially given how important he has become for the team.

Fabinho has become a part of that spine in the squad that keeps everything working so well around it when we have a fully fit team. When Van Dijk is fit and we have him in defence, Alisson in goal, Fabinho in midfield, and our attacking three, it already makes for the base of an incredible side that is so strong overall.

Is Fabinho Liverpool's best midfielder?

Yes

No

The Brazilian plays a huge part in that and I am glad to see the club doing everything they can to tie him down for as long as possible. I am a big fan of Fabinho and it is clear how important he is for Klopp and to this team as without him in midfield we are at a huge disadvantage.
