Since joining the club in September, Portuguese forward Diogo Jota has caused quite a stir with his strong start to life on Merseyside, with 9 goals in his first 15 games for the Reds.

This recent run of good form has led to debate over who should start up front for the club, new boy Jota or veteran Red Roberto Firmino, who has been such a big part of the squad since joining in 2015.

However, football magazine FourFourTwo have decided to make that decision for Reds fan, without them having to decide over who should complete the club’s front three alongside Sadio Mané and Mo Salah in their recent feature, ranking the best front three’s for every Premier League team in order of worst to best.

To Liverpool fans’ delight,  the Reds finished top spot for the best front three in the league, but the big surprise was their decision over Jota and Firmino…

Does Firmino deserve more respect from fans?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Ultimately, they opted for Jota upfront alongside Mané and Salah simply due to his incredible start this season since joining Jurgen Klopp’s side and I can understand why.

They reckon that Jota is capable of doing everything Firmino can do, as well as score goals – but this simply isn’t true.

I think people really underestimate the job that Firmino does for the side and don’t often see the work and effort he puts into all aspects of the game, not just going forward in attack – I don’t think Jota has it in him to continuously press and throughout a game and put pressure on the opposition midfield and defence the way Firmino does, nor does he have the defensive capabilities to intercept and disposes the way the Brazilian can.

I get why FourFourTwo would put Jota above at the moment as you can’t take away from the fine form that he has been producing lately, but the magazine even states themselves – Jota or Firmino, it doesn’t matter, because either way, we’d still have the best front three in the league.

What do you think Liverpool fans, who would you go for upfront? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
