Of all the stories you expect to see associated with the club this season, you would imagine they involve our results, performances, cup runs, possible transfer coming in and going out – and that is usually it.

Luckily for Liverpool fans, some more interesting news has broken as of late which doesn’t directly involve the club but will have a huge impact on it – with club owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), recently approving a £540 million ($750 million for them) private investment deal from RedBird Capital Partners which will see the push ahead with ambitious expansion plans for the company. Not only this, but the deal will also see LA Lakers Basketball player LeBron James become a new FSG partner, as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

RedBird Capital is a principal investment firm that provides flexible, long-term capital to help entrepreneurs grow their business and has a long history of success, and has a growing interest in the sporting world – which makes sense as to their investment in FSG.

What this means for the Reds yet is unknown but there is no doubt that the investment and growth in the business will impact the club in a hugely positive way – with LeBron James also a huge figure to have associated with the club in regards to exposure and financial investment.

The basketball star took a 2% share in the club back in 2011 a year after FSG took over which was worth £4.7 million back then – it is thoughts that 2% share could now be worth £37 million. Our recent successes and growth have had a great impact on FSG and any other stakeholders so it would make sense for them to want to continue this investment.
