|

Jurgen Klopp was full of praise as Liverpool pulled off a 1-0 away win against Wolves, earning their first clean sheet in eight games.

The Reds were under serious pressure heading into the game after just two wins in their previous five games, with awful defeats to both Brentford and Brighton but Klopp remained positive in his post-match press conference.

Harvey Elliott’s first half strike was enough to send Liverpool into the Fourth Round, where they will have a shot at revenge away at Brighton next weekend.

Team performance:

When asked if his side provided the reaction he was looking for, Klopp said: “It was the reaction we needed to show. We were compact, we were together, we had really good challenges and played some good football in moments.”

Klopp also adressed the work rate of a few individuals: “Naby was really there tonight. Both wingers defended well and Cody defended the centre for us. Full-backs were really good and the centre halves were focused.”

On Stefan Bajcetic:

Liverpool midfielder, Stefan Bajcetic, took the headlines from the game with the 18-year-old putting in a stunning performance and being awarded Man of the Match.

Klopp was full of praise for the youngster, saying: “Good player, very smart in his movements. Especially the younger you are, the more important it is that you have a good start in the game.”

On James Milner:

Klopp was full of praise regarding 37-year-old’s James Milner’s performance, saying: “Top. I think the oldest and youngest were really exceptional.”

On facing Brighton again:

Klopp remained certain not to let their recent defeat to Brighton be the telling narrative for next weekend’s game, saying: “No problem. We wanted to go to the next round and we already knew Brighton were the opponent, so no problem.”

Liverpool now turn their attention to their crunch game against Chelsea on Saturday at Anfield, as they look to make another push for European football next season.
