Liverpool 0-0 Derby County: Player Ratings

|

Liverpool knocked out Derby County following a penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw in the original 90 minutes. Here is how we think the players performed on the night:

Caoimhin Kelleher- 10/10 (Man of the Match)

A clean sheet in the original 90 minutes before going on to make not one, not two, but three crucial saves to send the Reds through to the next round.

Calvin Ramsay- 8/10

A solid start to his career on Merseyside. The Scotsman looks really good defensively and capable of progressing up the pitch with the ball as well.

Nat Phillips- 8/10

Looked very comfortable despite his lack of minutes over the past few months and defended very well to contribute to another clean sheet at Anfield.

Joe Gomez- 6/10

A decent enough display from Joe Gomez with not a lot to do really throughout the game.

Kostas Tsimikas- 5.5/10

The Greek international was decent defensively but then again wasn’t really challenged too much. However, his attacking performance wasn’t quite at his usual level.

Stefan Bajcetic- 7/10

A good performance from the 17-year-old. I thought he controlled the midfield pretty well and definitely didn’t look out of place. In fairness he didn’t have much help in the middle of the park.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- 6/10

You could tell Ox hasn’t played much football this season at all. Played some good forward passes and took his penalty well but didn’t offer much else to be honest.

Bobby Clark- 6/10

Similar to Ox in many ways. Plenty of energy but the game seemed to pass the youngster by at some stages.

Fabio Carvalho- 5.5/10

The youngster hasn’t quite been able to find the form he had earlier in the season. Tried plenty of different ideas but nothing seemed to be working out for him on the night.

Layton Stewart- 5/10

Not the best performance on his debut but there’s certainly a player in their deep down. Look forward to seeing him again in the future hopefully.

Melkamu Frauendorf- 5/10

The same could be said for Frauendorf as I said for Stewart. Definitely a talented player, but I can’t help but think they could both benefit from some time out on loan as I’m not sure youth football is preparing them enough physically.
