This season hasn’t been without its downfalls so far, with the Reds suffering at the hands of injuries for many of their players this campaign including first-choice central defensive pairing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

With the January transfer window finally underway, it comes that time where the Reds get linked with an abundance of players – some genuine links but most just to create a few headlines.

One of those players making the headlines is Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, who is in the final few months of his contract and can talk with other European clubs this month ahead of a free transfer in the summer – and Liverpool are reportedly interested despite Spanish giants Real Madrid leading the race for the Austrian’s signature.

Do you think Alaba would be a good signing?

No

According to Fabrizio Romano via The Guardian, Real Madrid are the 28-year-olds dream destination after his 12 years with Bayern Munich, and with the situation regarding club captain Sergio Ramos uncertain, Los Blancos are in pole position to secure Alaba’s signature.

Despite this, Liverpool are still interested in the player and will do everything possible to try and sign him according to the Italian. The Reds have made contact with his agents over a move but only time will tell on who will sign the defender in the summer.

I can’t deny that Alaba would be a fantastic signing for the Reds and hopefully, the pull of former teammate Tiago may be a great way or turning the defender’s head over a move to Merseyside, as well as the fact that Jurgen Klopp has to pull power that has brought so many fantastic players to the club in the past.
