With the January transfer window coming to an end last night, the Reds did well to conduct their deals in time ahead of completing the season with the strongest squad possible in their attempts to retain the Premier League title.

Plenty of players had been linked with a move to Anfield over the course of this month and yesterday saw numerous players dropped into the hat whilst Liverpool were conducting their business, including Juventus’ Turkish starlet defender Merih Demiral – but it was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that the Reds did not contact the Italian giants over a move for the player…

Despite the rumours, Liverpool did not contact Juventus for the signing of Demiral yesterday whilst completing the deal for Ben Davies from Preston North End in a £2 million deal.

Demiral is certainly a talented defender and has shown himself to be one of the next big things with Juventus with his current market value at £27 million according to Transfermarkt. The youngster has somewhat been frozen out of the Juventus starting XI this season with only six starts in Serie A.

Andrea Pirlo has instead opted for Leonardo Bonucci alongside either Georgio Chiellini or Matthijs De Ligt more often than not this season and this had led to many feeling Demiral may have been heading for the exit door.

Whatever the case, Demiral is definitely a talent and it may be a player that Liverpool revisits in the summer when finances are more solidly available and there isn’t as much of a rush to get deals completed before the end of deadline day like yesterday.

What do you think Liverpool fans, would Merih Demiral have been a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
