Liverpool have struggled with their defensive options this season with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip all suffering long-term injuries this campaign leaving Jurgen Klopp with slim pickings for central defenders.

This meant that during the January transfer window, the club worked tirelessly, albeit they left it until the very last day, to try and sure up their options at the back which they successfully did – with Ben Davies joining from Preston North End and Ozan Kabak joining on loan from Schalke04 until the end of the season but with an interesting twist at the end of his loan deal.

Have you been impressed by Kabak so far?

Kabak has impressed for the club during his first few months and he has definitely shown why the club should make a permanent move for him in the summer – and the Reds have a great deal in place that they shouldn’t turn their noses up at. During negotiations, the club managed an option to buy the Turkish international for just £18million, which has proven an absolute steal after the CIES Football Observatory released that Kabak’s worth has grown between £25million and £34million as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

I think the club would be crazy to not activate the option to buy in the summer given the time that Kabak has spent with the squad and how much he has tried to integrate into the squad – which he has done really well.

Kabak has proven at just 20-years-old that he could become a great part of this squad and considering the age he has adapted so well to the Premier League – so to be able to sign him for up to £16million below his current value is a staggering prospect and should surely give the Reds even more of an excuse to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.

What do you think Liverpool fans, should the club sign Kabak in the summer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
