Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, ex-Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has tipped the Reds to sign Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer – believing a move for the Premier League ace ‘makes sense’ and he could provide competition to our front three.

Aubameyang, who has racked up an impressive tally of 19 goals in 30 Premier League appearances, is now being tipped with a Merseyside move by ex-left back Warnock – with the £180,000-per-week striker currently commanding a fee of around €56 million (£50.5 million) according to Transfermarkt.

The Gabon attacker has reportedly been stalling on a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium, with his current deal looking set to expire at the end of the 2020/2021 season.

This has resulted in speculation surrounding his future, with the forward also being tipped to join the likes of Chelsea in these last few weeks.

Given his record in front of goal, it’s hardly surprising Liverpool are now being mentioned among the sides who should swoop for his signature.

The 31-year-old, as per Opta via talkSPORT, holds the second-best conversion rate in the league this season – burying 26 per cent of his attempted shots on goal, over a quarter of his efforts.

Only Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy has bettered that total so far this season, with Aubameyang also averaging more shots per game overall in the Premier League than the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino according to WhoScored.

Bearing this in mind, while being branded ‘wonderful‘ and likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry by Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Graeme Souness, it is clear Aubameyang would be a stellar coup.

We will have to wait and see whether the club follow through with Warnock’s tip to sign the player.
