Not going anywhere.

That was the update that some Liverpool fans might not have wanted to hear, but unless something drastic changes in the next couple of hours, then that’s going to be the case for three big (ish) names at Anfield.

Despite reports that they were likely to be leaving the club, Harry Wilson, Xherdan Shaqiri and Marko Grujic will have to stay put for the time being, with The Athletic’s James Pearce delivering this update to fans on social media:

I spoke when talking about Wilson’s potential departure that I didn’t want us to get greedy when it came to asking for money, describing it as cutting off your nose to spite your face. I just hope that the clubs coming in for the players have low-balled us into making them say rather than us turning our noses up at the offers.

Has Shaqiri been a worthwhile investment for Liverpool?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Whether they will stay put and fight for their place, or if they are now going to be forced to try and move in the ‘domestic window’ (although something tells me it’s highly unlikely they’ll drop down a division) we’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe it could be a blessing in disguise given potential injury and absences that could crop up down the line forcing us to dig deep into the squad depth.

But as things stand, you have to think there’s a chance these players are having their careers wasted by not moving anywhere this window.

What about you? What do you make of this news?
