The festive season is almost upon us and here at Vital Liverpool, we hope your wishes come true this Christmas.
Whilst the Liverpool support will be enjoying the festivities, the team will be focussed on the festive fixture programme, which starts with a visit from Newcastle United, on Boxing Day.
Liverpool enter this fixture in a good position, the results at the weekend saw Liverpool stretch their lead, over Manchester City, at the top of the table to four points.
With a fixture against our closest rivals for the title coming up, early in January, our destiny is in our own hands.
But, one thing worries me, history.
Looking at the last decade of Premier League football, we find that in eight of the last ten seasons the side that has led the Premier League table, at Christmas, goes on to win the trophy.
The only two years this hasn’t happened in were:
• 2008/2009
and
• 2013/2014
On both those occasions, it was, yes, you’ve guessed it, Liverpool, who led the table at Christmas.
Please don’t let it happen a third-time lads.
