Liverpool could agree a deal for Timo Werner before the end of the season, according to reports.

The RB Leipzig forward has emerged from the wilderness at VfB Stuttgart to become one of the most consistent goalscorers in Europe, with 27 goals from 33 appearances during the current campaign. Manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be a huge admirer of his compatriot and James Pearce of The Athletic confirmed during a Q&A session that he expects contact between the two clubs over the next coming weeks. There is a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for just £48m before April.

This comes after the well-respected journalist Jan Aage Fjortfoft told Empire of the Kop that the Reds are at the front of the queue for Werner’s services due to Klopp’s pulling power and that the fact the player himself spoke openly how his style of play would suit Klopp’s tactical setup, as per Sky Germany (cited by Sky Sports).

Having won a trio of intercontinental trophies in the space of six months and on the verge of winning their first league title in 30 years, it is no wonder why Werner is interested in joining Liverpool. The 29-cap international told Viasport (via the Express) that the Merseysiders are the best team in the world and preached how proud he was to be linked with such a team. Surely, this paves the way for the German to fly to Liverpool John Lennon Airport, a quick drive to Melwood and get the deal signed.

The Kop faithful have been drooling over the prospect of Werner signing for the Reds for months, having been linked with a move to the club since the summer, as per Kicker, via the Mirror. With him playing alongside the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, there is plenty of potential for him to score even more goals than he has done in his homeland.
