Transfer Report – Liverpool plan for £58,000pw defensive midfielder

|

Transfer silly season is always a constant when it comes to Liverpool. As usual, it has been linked to several midfielders. The latest name on that list is Morocco’s Sofyan Amrabat.

According to a recent Corriere Dello Sport report (via Sport Witness), the 26-year-old midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat, wants to play Champions League football. This is something that the Reds can provide if they manage to pull their socks up once the league resumes in December. He has had a great World Cup and is yet to concede a goal from open play.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Amrabat earns roughly €1.8 million per season. However, that is an amount that Liverpool is willing to better and increase to about €3 million per year to seal his signature and help solidify their midfield.

It is also reported that Sevilla and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in his signing, but unlike Liverpool, are yet to establish contact with his representatives.

His current deal with Fiorentina expires in 2024. However, they are hoping to get him to sign an extension, given that he has become a football asset that most big teams are going after.

Morocco created history by beating Spain in the Round of 16 in the Qatar World Cup. This is the first time since the 1960’s that Morocco has gone past the Round of 16, while it is the third consecutive World Cup in which Spain has yet to make a dent despite having a World Class team.

Amrabat has been at the center of all their excellent performances in Qatar.

Liverpool does have a proven quality in the holding midfielder role, but Fabinho has been a shadow of his former self.

So what do you think? Should the Reds make a January move for him? Let us know in the comments section below.
