Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool will let star leave for free

|

Liverpool are touted to let English midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlin leave on a free transfer at the end of his current contract.

Two signings that did not go as well as planned were Naby Keita and Oxlade Chamberlin. Their careers have been marred by injuries. The Liverpool fans had lost patience a long time ago and finally, it seems that the Liverpool staff have too.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is expected to leave Liverpool in 2023 as a free agent. There are no talks to extend his contract. Liverpool signed him for £40 million from Arsenal. The signing did not play out as well as expected for either the player or Liverpool.

Oxlade is expected to leave in the summer after his contract expires. Liverpool is said to not have had him a contract extension according to football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool could offer Alex to Southampton in January. If a deal is not struck, the player will be allowed to leave for free at the end of the season.

Oxlade has made 137 appearances for Liverpool scoring 17 times. He might not have played an active role in the recent success of Liverpool. However, he has scored some important goals in the UEFA Champions League and Premier League winning seasons for Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool is expected to sign new midfielders before the start of next season. There are quite a few players on the radar with Jude Bellingham being continually linked to the Liverpool side.
