Liverpool are Premier League champions, which would make it quite easy to change course and go on a different path as a football club.

What’s the word?

Other than the 2018/19 campaign where the Merseysiders spent £163m on players, the Reds have been fairly consistent in the transfer market. Prioritising youth and knowledge instead of aimlessly spending on players that are not guaranteed to bring success.

This has all been part of Jurgen Klopp’s project and building blocks since he became the club manager in late 2015.

The German tactician could easily turn around and suggest a different viewpoint now that he has managed to fulfil his promise of winning a title within four years of him taking charge.

But if reports are to be believed, he hasn’t. According to Yahoo Esportes, Liverpool have been heavily linked with the 18-year-old Brazilian sensation Talles Magno, who has been putting in some eye-catching performances with the Brazil Serie A outfit Vasco da Gama.

Media in South America have been raving about him, and have even described him as the “next Neymar”, cited by Goal.

All about the system

One of the many great things about Jurgen Klopp is that he has not just brought players to the club for the sake of it. But he has identified players that can mould into his heavy-metal style of player that has become so infamous under the former Borussia Dortmund boss’ watch.

Should Liverpool go all out to sign Talles Magno?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Magno’s ability to adapt and flex his muscles in different positions makes him perfect for this, with Klopp loving versatile individuals. The Brazil U17 international also possesses strong hold-up play which is typical of an effective centre forward. A possible replacement for Roberto Firmino in the future, perhaps.

He could be available for as little as £18m this summer due to recent global events. But with the Reds financial complications, there is no telling whether a deal like this could be pulled off at this stage.

Magno would be a fantastic signing, and a clever one too. With Klopp continuing to choose coaching and player development over spending power, he could build a team with Magno in it that could dominate for years to come.
