Having been at the club for four and a half years, Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has helped the Reds to return to the top of the footballing ladder – with them winning the Champions League and Premier League over the past two seasons.

With 208 games, 20 goals, and 18 assists under his belt for the club, Wijnaldum has truly become one of the most important players at the club and has earned his place among some of the best midfielders in the club’s history – but that could all be set to come to an end with the midfielder still yet to agree on a new deal before his contract runs out in the summer of 2021.

It had recently been reported that the Reds had offered Winaldum a new contract over the last few days with an improved deal to try and keep him at the club with Jurgen Klopp a big fan of the player – but his lack of decision making and time running out before the January transfer window which would give him an opportunity to talk with other European clubs about a pre-contract agreement before the summer leaves the Reds in a difficult position.

There has been plenty of chatter as to whether Wijnaldum should stay at the club, with my personal thoughts being that the Reds would be silly to let him leave at such a point in his career. At 30-years-old, the Dutchman has matured into a fantastically unselfish and talented player for the club and has become such an important part of our midfield.

To leave at a time like now when we could see some of the best years of his career would be a huge mistake and the club should do whatever they can to make WIjnaldum feel as though staying at Anfield is the best choice for his career.

What do you think Liverpool fans, would you hate to see Gini Wijnaldum leave? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
