The January transfer window is closing down and the Reds have been linked with an abundance of talent – with recent rumours surrounding PSG forward Kylian Mbappe and Liverpool doing the rounds, with the Reds supposedly happy to offload some of their attacking force to raise funds to sign the Frenchman.

According to PSG, via the Liverpool Echo, they have entered talks with Mbappe over a new contract despite the forward stalling for some time over discussions over a new deal after joining the Parisian’s in 2017 from AS Monaco for an initial loan deal which then led to a permanent transfer of £130 million.

Could Kylian Mbappé become a Liverpool player?

Yes

Yes

No

No

This season the Frenchman has been on fire for PSG in Ligue 1 this season with 10 goals and 4 assists in just 9 games and is versatile up front too. Mbappe can play across the whole front line, as well as playing at left midfield this season in PSG’s 2-0 win over Reims.

Of course, Mbappe would be a great addition to the Liverpool squad as he would with any team in the world – with the 21-year-old tipped to be a future Ballon d’Or winner in his career according to former Chelsea and France striker Nicolas Anelka.

To think that the club would have to offload some of their current talents such as Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino, or Mo Salah to be able to afford a move for the youngster is a bit of a blow given what the trio has done for the club over recent years – but I suppose that is just how football works.

No matter the case, I wouldn’t see a move for Mbappe happening any time soon and his current contract talks with PSG could easily fall flat – but only time will tell.
