Liverpool pulled off one of the signings of the season in my opinion at the start of the current campaign and it wasn’t even a player that people expected to hit the ground running the way he has.

Portuguese forward Diogo Jota has enjoyed his time at Anfield so far, with the Reds managing a deal for the 24-year-old in September for a reported fee of just over £40 million. Although it seemed a steep fee at the time of the transfer, there is no doubt that it was a great bit of business from the club.

However, this summer will see the club pay Wolves the next installment of the transfer after managing to secure him last year with just £4 million as the initial fee – with the next fee set at £12 million according to the Daily Telegraphs Midlands football reporter John Percy, via AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

Despite the initial frustration about the club having to still pay installment for a player that has already been at the club for almost a whole season, it isn’t the worse thing in the world when you actually take into consideration the quality of the deal that the club managed to agree.

To have only paid £4 million initially, it left the club with the ability to complete the defensive deals we needed in the winter window, as well as only having to pay just £12 million next and still have plenty of funds to invest with into the squad in the summer as stated by the club’s owners themselves, which I still feel is some great business.

Was Diogo Jota Liverpool's best signing in the summer?

No

Let’s hope that the club makes significant investments in the summer to further our quality on the bench so long as the right players are cleared from the squad.
