This summer will likely be one of the most active in the club’s recent history, with the last real spending spree occurring ahead of the 2018/19 season with the likes of Fabinho, Alisson, Naby Keita, and Xherdan Shaqiri all joining during that summer window.

After the Reds reportedly agreed on a deal for RB Leipzig’s French defender Ibrahima Konaté in a €41.5m deal it was revealed that the club’s five-man shortlist that they compiled of possible centre-back targets was also released containing some of the finest talents across Europe.

However, another name outside of the shortlist has been mentioned that the club are monitoring and that is Villarreal and Spanish international Pau Torres according to the Daily Mail as cited by AnfieldWatch, with the 24-year-old heavily linked with a move away from the La Liga club this summer with Real Madrid and Manchester United also interested

With Real Madrid reportedly frustrated with Manchester United’s approach and their quick show of interest in Torres, I can’t imagine they will be too happy now that Liverpool are also interested in the defender.

Torres has been a fantastic leader for Villarreal and has been a constant presence in the club’s defence since being promoted from their youth squad and after a successful loan with fellow La Liga club Malaga.

Will Klopp improve the Liverpool squad this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

At just 24-years-old Torres certainly fits the bill for the sort of defender that the club would look to target in the summer and with a last name like that, I am sure the Liverpool fans would welcome him with open arms, as the last Torres to turn out for the Reds didn’t do too bad.
