The Reds have been unfortunate so far this season to have seen so many of their first-team players sidelined through injury, with first-choice central defensive pairing Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out for the remainder of the campaign.

This had led to a number of links to defender across Europe, with one name cropping up time and time again with the Reds being linked with to the player last season – this of course comes in the form of 20-year-old Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak.

Kabak had been linked with a move to the Reds previously but recent reports suggest that the German club are preparing themselves for a bid from the Reds this winter according to the Daily Telegraph, with Schalke also keen on including Liverpool striker Divock Origi in on the deal for Kabak.

This could work out as a great bit of business for the Reds, with Belgium striker Origi also being recently linked with a move away from Merseyside, with Wolves reportedly interested in the 25-year-old.

Kabak is currently rated at £22.5 million and would likely cost in excess of this figure – but with Origi included in the deal and Schalke keen to take the striker on, this would no doubt drive the price down for the Turkish defender which would work out well for the Reds.

There is no denying Kabak’s talent, with the youngster proving himself over recent years after breaking into Galatasaray’s first team and going on to move to VfB Stuttgart and then Schalke 04 – and I think he could be a great fit into Liverpool’s defence if they were to make a move for him.
