The last few months has seen an abundance of some of the best young talents across Europe linked with a move to the club during Liverpool’s pursuit of a new centre-back for next season.

The January window saw the club sign two new defenders in Ben Davies from Preston North End, who has failed to feature so far, and Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04 on a six-month loan with an option to buy in the summer for £18million – with the Turkish international featuring heavily and impressing so far.

However, the club has now reached the advanced stages of sealing a deal for 21-year-old French centre-back Ibrahima Konaté from RB Leipzig, after the club had been linked with a move for the youngster for some time now. The news broke this morning with The Athletic’s David Ornstein sharing the news on Twitter with an exclusive…

Although the deal is still yet to be completed it shows the club will more than likely finalise the deal after progressing to the advanced stages as Ornstein says – which will come as welcome news to the Liverpool faithful.

Injuries to our first-choice selection of central defensive talent has all but plagued the club’s season so far with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip all missing the majority of the campaign so far which has left the club sat in seventh in the league.

Will Klopp improve the Liverpool squad this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

I had previously spoken about the possibility of the club signing Kabak on a permanent deal which I still think should be done, with him available at a cut-price of just £18million compared to his guide price which is around £34million and with him settling well into the squad over the last few weeks, he deserves the transfer in my opinion.

What do you think Liverpool fans, will Konaté be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
