Liverpool have reportedly been linked again with a move for Napoli’s Senegalese centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, with the 29-year-old subject to interest from the Reds who have made contact with his entourage for a summer move.

Italian agent Vincezo Morabito says that the club are already in discussions with his representatives but are waiting to see his valuation, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis wanting no less than €70million for his signature after initially wanting £81million for the 29-year-old last summer, as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter below…

I have previously spoken about the supposed Koulibaly interest from the Reds and I still find it hard to believe that after all of our previous transfer history under FSG and the supposed transfer policy that we have been using, we would be targeting a player such as Koulibaly?

That isn’t me saying he is a bad player as that is far from the truth otherwise the interest from Liverpool and other clubs would be non-existent, but there is much better value for money options out there for players who are much younger and have a higher ceiling than Koulibaly.

Should Liverpool sign Koulibaly?

Yes, do it

Yes, do it

No, Werner more important

Players such as Ibrahima Konaté, Ozan Kabak, Ben White, Duje Caleta-Car, etc. would be much better options for the club to look towards and invest in, with them all being linked with a move to the club in the past. Whatever the situation or future may hold for the club’s business in their search for a new centre-back, I really don’t think Koulibaly is the answer.

What do you think Liverpool fans, would Koulibaly be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
