Liverpool are set to sign at least one new attacker in the summer with the club looking to invest in their squad depth ahead of next season and with the likelihood of some of the squad departing the opposite way.

The club had been linked previously for a move for Sevilla’s Argentinian winger Lucas Ocampos after his impressive form over the last few seasons since joining the La Liga club from Marseille. The 26-year-old was linked with the Reds back in February with the club looking to complete a player plus cash deal for him, but recent reports have suggested a different ending to the story.

When speaking to Canal Sur Radio as transcribed by The Liverpool Echo, Ocampos stated how he is happy at Sevilla and doesn’t look to be going anywhere anytime soon despite the transfer interest from other clubs, as cited by AnfieldWatch on Twitter…

The interest in Ocampos initially led to some exciting prospect for the club in their attempt to evolve their front line, especially with the speculation over the futures of Liverpool players such a Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

However, it looks as though the Argentine is happy where it is and it is probably best for the club given the price he would likely have costed with his current market value of £36million not a clear indicator of how much Sevilla would likely demand for his signature in the summer.

Will Klopp improve the Liverpool squad this summer?

No

There have been plenty of names linked with a move to the club and I am sure in time they will find the right players to join the club, but with Ocampos not looking for a move right now it likely won’t be him.

What do you think Liverpool fans, would Ocampos have been a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below…
